5week old puppy needs help!!?

I have just adopted a 5 week old puppy. The owner gave them all away too young and she has not yet been weened off her mother.
My vet told me puppy milk is actually bad for them, but I'm not 100% on what to feed her. I have always adopted puppies after 8 weeks and have not dealt with this before.
What is the best thing to do?
Please help!!

At 5 weeks old they really dont need mom's milk any more but the puppy replacer milk is just fine. You need to make puppy mush for this Little one. You take 1 cup of good puppy food and place it into a blender and add some warm water to it to make a runny oatmeal like mush. Place this on a shallow pan and give this to your pup 4 times a day. you may have to teach the pup to eat by placing the mush on your finger and gently placing in the pups mouth. Then the pup can lap it up. You should have clean fresh water for pup too.
The replacer milk really isn't necessary any more so just do the mush with warm water ok.
Good luck!
ask the vet about giving the puppy formula made for human babies.
lactose milk is good for them
awe, bless you. i would give the vet a call and ask for advise on what to give him.just to be on the safe side.
When my pups were young I fed them farleys rusks and milk or other baby foods , baby rice etc.
Ask your vet for advice and follow their guidance. Poor pups. Look after the little mite!
Your vet or the breeder should be able to give you a diet sheet for them, if they cannot advise you try this website below.
Your quite right she has been taken away prematurely but she can be handed reared.
Little and often is the best and lots of cuddles.
My mom and dad bottle fed some puppies you can by puppie formula at a petsmart and bottle he said that a regular baby bottle has to big of a whole in the nipple and can gag them but im sure if you call around to vets they can assist you or a petsmart or pet co whatever your pet shops are around there. I hope I could help a bit..
im sorry but the breeder u get it from must not be experienced and u should know not to get a puppy that young
goldengal is right she knows what she talking about ,my pups are just coming up to 4weeks old and ill be weening then on to puppy food and ill be doing it just as goldengal as said I'm are lapping goats milk at the moment they are loving it , good luck with your new pup x
ask your vet or any vet. If they are a real vet they will know what to feed it.
A good dry puppy food soaked in a combo of warm water and goat's milk. If you get teh canned goat milk fdorm your gorcery or Walmart, it must be diluted. Directions are on the can. With a pup removed so young from it's mother, be extra vigilant aobut teaching it manners, especially things like not playbiting too hard, and respect for others. If you have a dog around that you can trust that is well-vaccinated and doesn't get into much contact with other dogs that could carry disease, you might let the pup play with your pup to help socialize it.
First I'd change your vet. They should have told you what's the best for the little darling, not leaving you to guess. Phone your local dogs home or try and get in touch with any breeder.

to the vet
Lactol milk from the pet shop, for breakfast and supper , warm weetabix and milk. The other 2 meals, a good dried puppy food with hot gravy poured over it, given when cool.Pups of that age have tiny tums so don't expect it to eat an awful lot. should also be taking water by now.
if your in britain there is a puppy formuls called Lactol..or you could try goats milk.Alot of vets suggest that
When I was weaning pups I started them on dry food soaked in goats milk as I read it is easier for them to digest. Worked fine.
Hi i got one of my staffies early (between 4 and 5 weeks) because her mother was'nt accepting her properly and so she was'nt always feeding properly, anyways i looked at this from every possible angle and found that soaking some high quality dog food in warmed milk(of the cow kind) for a couple hours then giving it to her helped her mega!! She is now just over 14 months and amazingly fit and healthy. pups are normally weaned about this time anyway so it wont do them no harm at all to give them proper food, honestly just give it a try i bet ya it works. good luck with whatever you try
i suggest you give the pup a 3/4of a baby rusk softened with puppy milk and slowly introduce puppy food finely chopped up its not how much but how often remember the pups stomache is on the size of a golf ball
