whoa yes she is pregnant for sure even one tie can get her, if you dont want puppies then u can spay her but i dont beleive in killing puppies so just let her have them and find all great homes for them and good luck
Yes, this can make her pregnant. You can't have her spayed while she's in heat, but as soon as she's done, take her to the vet to get her spayed.
yes lol
How about telling your mom and let her worry about it. You shouldn't let your dog roam free if that's what your doing. And if you can't control your dog on a WALK then you don't need a dog at all.
Poor a bucket of water on them, between them, that will separate them.
Poor puppy...whoof :)
yes, and you can have her fixed right now and the male too.otherwise, read all you can and start trying to find homes for them, I hope she is at least two because she is not mature until then.
I guess since she had pups before your mom should have fixed her when you got her. I am sorry you have this all on your mind, it really is a heavy load for you. It is not your fault and I am sorry people are being mean about it. She is not too young to have puppies at three years old. Is the male a shepherd too?
Yes, not only can it happen, but most likely, with all that activity, it already has.
She can still be spayed to prevent unwanted puppies. She is so young that having the puppies is dangerous for her. Call your vet for advice on how to proceed.
Also, get your male neutered. It will keep him from geting certain types of cancers, from peeing all over everything, and from wanting to run away to chase females.
ADDED: Oops. Just saw where you added the female' age. So then she's not too young, but there's still the matter of how much it costs to ahve puppies, and how much work it is. I still recommend geting her spayed. Like I said, explain it all to your vet and s/he can help. Good luck.
Yeah, she is probably pregnant.. And you should spay her.. It seems that it's too much responsibility for your family to keep your intact female away from males.. It's best if she is spayed, before she ends up dead.
When the dogs get stuck together it's called a coital tie. This is when he is inseminating her, and thus, getting her pregnant. DO NOT EVER try and separate the dogs when they are tied. You can cause serious damage to one or both of the dogs reporoductive organs. Granted, she needs to be spayed and reproducing wont' matter, but causing damage to these organs wll effect more than reproduction. The male's penis swells up inside of the female to keep the sperm from getting out during the tie. This is what makes them stick together. After a few minutes - even up to 30 or 45 minutes - the swelling will go down and they will come apart.
If you want to be a responsible pet owner (which I believe you do), you need to get your dog spayed as soon as her heat is over. Until that time, you need to keep her away from male dogs. It only takes one coital tie to impregnate the female, but she can be inseminated by multiple males. It's not common, but it is possible. Keep her safe from males as they will be very aggressive in trying to breed with her during her heat. It is hard for her and it will wear her out quickly.
I would also suggest that you have a serious talk with your parents and let them know that getting her fixed will be the best thing for her. Show them that you are responsible and that you really care about the animal's well being. Hopefully they will listen to you.
EDIT: I just read some of the other posts. After the coital tie the dog will be pregnant for 60-65 days. Right about 63 is pretty standard. You can have her pregnancy terminated and have her spayed if you do it soon. Call your vet and ask questions. They should answer any questions you have.
Well, since your mom is going to spay her, tell her to be sure and make an appointment now, so you will not have any puppies. Also, please get your male dog neutered...it can stop many undesireable behaviors such as marking and running off, as well as cut the risk of some cancers. There are plenty of low-cost options so that both can be fixed ASAP.
It takes about 4months 0r 5months for her to have her pups.Your Mother needs to fix both dogs.Go to ASPCA.com have your Mother do the search for you. And yes she could ask Questions for free. the only thing she haves to is open an email account and its free. You your self could do some research on animals with the help of your Mother. Good luck. And only is spell this way>Only.
She is almost assuredly going to have puppies. Almost all ties end in a pregnancy. It takes nine weeks or just a little over two months for babies to be born.
It is a really bad idea to try to separate dogs when they are tied. You could get bitten. Male dogs don't like to be interrupted when they are busy with a female. Just leave them. You can be concerned about a pregnancy later.
If Mom doesn't want to have the puppies then she can take the dog in to have an abortion/spay. If she does, then the dog and puppies will probably be just fine.
You are young. This dog really is Mom's responsibility, not yours. Don't worry so much. She is the one who will have to make decisions and pay for the dog's care. You just love your dog like you are. And your dog will probably be fine no matter what she decides.
