The pit bull is an interesting breed - they are naturally curious and quite playful. They aren't especially aggressive toward humans (in fact, with proper care and training pit bulls make great family pets) but they can react VERY aggressively towards other dogs.
It seems to me that your dogs aren't getting the care and attention they need at your grandpa's, and as a result are reverting to their instincts because of it.
The best thing you can really do is spend more time with them - as much as you possibly can - to make sure they get the attention they need. You can also arrange for obedience training for them (generally considered a must for this breed).
maybe they are acting different because you were their original owner. and they're uncomfortable with having your grandfather as an owner
Contact a reputable rescue organization that can place these dogs in a suitable home. Right now they are at a critical age and need their behavior modified or it can turn ugly. There are rescue groups that deal with these breeds. Look online for a pitbull rescue group but do your homework about these groups and how they adopt out the dogs.
How sad for you. They would have been better off with you. When dogs are lonely they bark until they loose their voice. Maybe you can place your dog with someone else, best would be if you could keep them your self.
Have they been spayed? two females usually don't get along and if they are living outside with no people interaction ,well that is just a bad situation all together! They need to be trained and socialized with people and other animals.
And should most definitely be spayed!
I think they are very unhappy, people fight more when they are unhappy. I would contact a Pitbull rescue in your state %26 turn them over to them. Look at petfinder.com %26 type in pitbulls %26 rescues will come up that take pits. If the dogs are not spayed this could be a big part of why they are not getting along. PMS can be fighting words to a lot of the ladies.
It could be stress. Having to change homes has freaked them out a bit and they're taking it out on each other. Also, they're getting older and could be fighting over who's the alpha female. In my experience of owning pits, two females will fight more than two males.
Start by getting them both spayed.that should calm things down quite a bit. Also, pit bulls dont make good outside dogs. They need alot of human attention and socialazation. Its sounds like you dont have much choice but something needs to change is this situation or things will start to get alot worse..
