Adopting a dog. Uk?

Anyone tell me the process of adopting a dog. Will there be many dogs to pick from? Will they all be huge dogs or is there small dogs too which I am looking for.
Answers:
Thousands of dogs waiting all over the UK. Go to your animal rescue centre or RSPCA. You will be vetted and your home checked out to make sure its OK to keep a dog. It will probably cost about 拢30 for a dog and they come in all sizes
Hello,
I found this website, it tells you the process of adopting a dog.
http://www.animalshelter.org.uk/html/ado...
Also, there will be lots and lots of dogs to choose from in all different shapes and sizes, http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/rehoming/cho...
You can adopt from that site, or RSPCA shelters near you.
It is great to adopt a dog instead of buying one from puppy years, my nan did it and she loves her little adopted doggie.
Good Luck
There are lots of organisations in the U.K that need good, loving homes for their dogs, the most famous being Battersea Dogs Home. Before you attempt to adopt a dog, and i applaud anyone that does, there are a few things to consider first. Have you got the room for a dog, large or small? Have you got the time to devote to it every day? How many hours wil it be left alone in your house? Are you working? Have you got the means to pay for its injections, medical treatment should the need arise, food, treats and kennel fees for when you go on holiday? Have you any children? If you have are they good with animals? Does your partner agree to adopting a dog? If you can answer yes to all of the above then go for it! BDH have hundreds of dogs, big ones, small ones, funny ones, moody ones, ones that are ideal for familys, ones that don't like kids ones that like cats, ones that hate them. The list is endless ha ha. Go along to the home and have a chat to the kennel maids, they're the ones that know the dogs the best, they're with them everyday! If you have a preference for a certain breed, they will find you one! You have to agree to a home check ( a warden will come into your house to see if it is suitable, check if you have a garden etc but if you dont have a garden it isn't an automatic bar from having a dog ). You will be interviewed by the staff of the home to see if you are ok to have one of their dogs and then you have to wait for your chosen puppy, think its about ten days but i'm not sure. The cost is around 拢85 / 拢90 and although thats very cheap, you will be safe in the knowledge that your new friend is healthy, happy and has been treated correctly by the home. Good luck and i hope you find a friend for life.
Check out Dogs Trust - www.dogstrust.org.uk. You'll find your nearest rehoming centre on there and also see a selection of dogs needing homes at that centre. It's only a selection of the dogs there though, so go along to your nearest centre to view the dogs and chat to staff. Good luck.
depending on how large a center you go visit will depend on teh amount of dogs there..
you will go see the dogs large or small and if there is one you like they will then ask you questions then send someone to your home ot see if its a suitable place for a dog to be kept and you can look after it well with lots of time and make sure the whole family want the dog..
once you have passed the homecheck you will then be able to collect your dog the whole process could take up to 6 weeks depending on how quick they can get a home checker out to you..
