5 month old labrador?

my 5 month old lab is still on dry puppy food. she is always hungry . i know they are greedy . but when can i put her onto adult food
Answers:
puppy food is the same as adult it just as more vitamins and fats so your puppy food is what your pup needs to grow strong if hes not looking thin hes ok if he is give him more put dont change his food till hes 1 hope this helps x
You are suppose to keep dogs on pappy food until they reach their 1st birthday. puppy food has different ratios of fat and protein for the puppies to grow and develop healthy muscles. It is best to keep your dog on a routine feeding schedule and follow the manufactureres reccomenced feeding/weight. Labs are big dogs and they do eat a lot. I have 2 of them and they eat about 6 cups/day. if you offer them more they will eat it out of instinct rather than need. talk to your vet, feed what's reccomended and continue monitoring the dogs weight. Labs do have a tendancy to become overweight
You can up the amount of puppy food you give her or try two meals a day, also try given her a treat on top of her meals of soft scrambled eggs or fish every few days then once she is used to it u can give her it every day,its also good for her coat.
Our dog is one next month and has dry food for breakfast and fish or egg at teatime.we usually top up the dry food bowl as well at teatime.
Its really your own preference but definately not adult food until she is one as too strong for the puppy to digest.
NEVER EVER feed a labrador
they are prone to addiction, and may eat everything in the house including the furniture.
play them subliminal tapes. I recommend "Food Hurts" and
"Men Labradors hate Fatlady Labs" Both recorded by Tiny Tim.
YOu and your family may be better off eating in the toilet in case of imitative behaviour. My advice is to give the thing to someone you don't like for christmas.
I believe the bigger the breed the longer the growth period and the longer feeding puppy chow is recommended. Generally 1 year is rule of thumb but this could be less or more for a small or Giant breed. If she is eating above and beyond what is recommending by your brand and she is thin, make sure she doesnt have worms.
Your pup needs to stay on puppy food until 12 to 18 months of age.
It is important that you select food that is:
- for large breed puppies (if yours does not state, then change)
- having a chart with the amount you should feed according to the weight of the puppy (if yours does not have such a chart, then change)
Labradors do get joint disease quite early and the food you will feed her until the bone growth plate do fuse is very important.
Whether she feels hungry or not does not mean much: you should feed her what she needs (according to the manaufacturer's recommendations) and not what she wants.
It is a mistake to keep medium/large breed dogs on regular puppy food to long, it is just to hot for them (fat %26 protean %). That is why large breed puppy foods became available. The old way (before large breed foods) was to feed Lab puppies one 40# bag of regular puppy food before switching them to adult food. The new way is to feed Large breed puppy food for 6 months to 1 year and then switch.
the dry food you are giving her should have on the bag feeding guidelines for size and age and most Labradors will eat until they burst.most dry foods include a junior range to take them up to adulthood usually from twelve to eighteen months.
