Any one know of a good obediant breed of dog to have as a house pet?

theres only two of us in the house,no children or other animals and looking for a dog medium kind of size ,mums got a yorkshire terrier and believe me he lives up to his name, any suggestions?
Answers:
You are the one who will make a dog obedient!
it's not the breed. some breeds are smarter than others, or more willing to please than others, but ultimately you are the one who have to train your dog to be obedient.
www.petfinder.com
you will find any medium size dogs there of any kind of breed.
Good research and good luck!
Edit: adult dogs are easier to train!
There's no such thing as an inherently obedient breed. Obedience comes with training.
no pup is obedient. they need to be trained. if u have time, great. if not, go to the pound find an older dog. as for breed, whatever melts your heart...since there are no kids, its easier.
Alot of dogs can be good in the house with proper care and exercise. Dobermans in the description according to AKC are considered a medium size dog. I have 2 and they do very well.
Poodles are the easiest to train.. And there are three sizes do some research on them.
get a mini dachshund (weener dog)
they are great house dogs and are very obediant, well at least mine is. he is also the cuties thing in the world. check them out.
Would have to agree with the first answer that its the training not the breed. What you pick will really depend on what you are looking for- do you want a couch potato kind of dog, or do you want a high energy dog to jog with, etc. If you are both working and not really active, you should avoid things like dalmations, labs, aussies, etc, that have been bred to work, run for long distances, etc, as the dog will be very frustrated sitting around doing nothing all the time. If you want a laid back, doesn't need a lot of long walks kind of dog, english bulldogs are very nice, but they are prone to skin problems, eye problems, and allergies, so they can be very high maintenance. Your best bet may be adopting an adult dog. Whatever you get, and whatever its age, obedience training will make your dog a much happier, much more enjoyable member of your family.
I have owned Shetland Sheepdogs (or mini-Collies as they are sometimes called) for over 20 and they are very easy to train and make great family pets. They are very intelligent and take to obediance training very quickly.
obediance isnt about the breed. it is about how u train ur dog. u can take them to obedience classes to help with this. u can train them properly. it really has nothing to do with the breed. what i suggest u do is take u and ur significant other to the shelter and u look at dogs and u find one u both agree on. then u enroll it in obedience classes and u train the dog very well. that is all there is to it. breed doesnt matter
Obedient dogs aren't born, they are trained.
Any breed of dog can be obedient, if trained properly. They don't just come that way!
NO dog breed or mix is born obedient. In order ot have an obedient well mannered dog you need to train it..teach it how to behave.
