Any advice on puupys?

ive just rescued a puppy which is crossed with a pittbull and a bullmastiff and need some advice please
Answers:
just grow to love it and you will have no problems
You don't say what kind of advice you need, but I would suggest you get a book on puppies, their needs, behavior and training.
That way you can look up any issues that come up.
gt some puppy books and get it in to obediance training asap

here are some helpful care sheets
http://www.petco.com/caresheets/careshee...
make sure it has had all injections and has been wormed. also get some toys for it before it starts eating everything in sight
found this site for you, this has a section on raising pups xx

first get it a nice warm bed, like a warm dogging blanket, and have enough milk for the pups. dont over feed it, when feeding, try to give it puppy cow, and things for puppies, make sure it has a dog bowl with water, and food. give it alot of attention. it really depends on how old it is. be sure to take it to the veteranarian and get it shots, and make sure there is nothign wrong. if you cant take care of it, be sure to send it to the place for animals without a home.
Training...
Don't let it DIE!
I have found the best place to get professional advice about any sort of puppy is Pet Smart. They are friendly and couteous and take the time to help you.
They also have a great puppy school that can help us who do not know how to train a dog. Our puppy has leanred how to sit, come, stay, how to walk with us (and not pull us), etc. They were wonderful in training us people how to handle a dog.
You need to research both of these breeds. You can start by reading about them on the sites I've listed. You might also want to buy a book about the breeds. You will also want to read about raising a puppy in general, and general dog care. I've listed information on puppies also. And be sure to take your dog to the vet, they will be able to give you more information also.
With both pit bulls and bullmastiffs you h ave to do a lot of training and socialization from an early age. Introduce your puppy to new people and dogs every day, and always make the experience positive. You will want to continue socialization throughout your dogs life. And when your dog grows up, he is going to be HUGE. Treat your puppy as if he is big now, so he learns the rules. Like when he is an adult, you are not going to want him to jump up on people, so start teaching him now not to jump. And if you don't want him on the couch or bed, start teaching him now that those are off limits..
It is also important to teach your puppy good manners now, while he is still small. Taking him to a good puppy obedience class would be a good idea. That way he will learn sit, down, stay, and come, which will be VERY important commands when he gets bigger.
If your pup is raised with love, and taught manners from a very young age he will grow up to be a very loving family companion.

Its a great thing that you rescued a puppy. First dont forget to feed your new puppy. Buy him toys and things to chew. Also treats and a collar and leash. You have to walk your dog at least 2 times a day. Take him to the vet to determine his approximate age and if check if he had his shots already. You have to feed your puppy 2 times a day. Make sure that you always have dry food and water avaliable. Treat your puppy with love and dont scream or show any abuse if he/she does something wrong after all its only a puppy! Also buy your puppy a place to sleep or make a comfortable corner made with blankets. I hope my advice helps! Good luck with your puppy!
dont let the puppy get in habits like biting because it can be
a sign that the puppy can do it.
Sorry to put a downer on this but - - If you are in UK (and I presume you are as you are on UK page) You are in possession of a Banned Breed under the Dangerous Dogs Act and will have to comply with all the restrictions that apply.
Have a look at
http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/welfare/...
you do not state whih kind of advice you would like - all I can say is get training and grow to love him
good luck
i wouldnt go announcing that.
any pitt type or any pit cross dogs are now illegal to own. (if you are in the uk anyway)
the best advice i can give is contacts the police and let them come and collect the dog and let them decide what to do with it

i am curious though, HERE you say you rescued the dog, in your other threat about dogs
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...
you say you have just BOUGHT one, there is a big difference between buying and rescueing, which one is it?
as for my answer its still teh same, if in the UK, and i believe the US, it is illegal to own this pet
you have two breeds that can be very dangerous ,big and strong ,make sure you train this dog well but it depends where you live ,you may not be able to keep it ,how old? ,feed it every 2-3 hours if its a young one ,8weeks 5 times a day 10-12 weeks 4 time aday ,you need a good puppy food dry kibble is best sock it in some water to start so it soft ,10weeks they can have it dry it help with its teeth , good luck!
Want do you want to know? I will try to give all-round answers for you
*he needs lots of love and attention
*He will need vaccinations and worming from the vet.
*he needs socialisation as soon as he can go out and about
*he needs obediance training from today - he is much cleverer than you think
*he needs his own bed to sleep in - no touching him in there that's his time out spot
*he needs lots of love and attention
*he needs a healthy diet that is a close to natural as you can get - the amount and frequency depends on his age.
*he needs fresh water all the time
*he needs chew toys and a kong
*he needs you to understand that he is a baby and that he will make mistakes sometimes, and finally
*he needs lots of love and attention
have fun!
i have been breeding bullmastiffs for over ten years now and they are a great breed type/temprement. dont like the sound of them being crossed with pitbull watch and be aware!!
Research the breed standard for both breeds, as he will most likely inherit traits from both breeds. This will also give an indication as to the size that he will grow (I think you will find that he will be big, strong and a bit of a handful!) Pitbulls (which I believe are illegal to breed now, and previous answers back this up) and mastiffs are notoriously difficult to train, have a mind of their own and are often dangerous and aggressive if not trained properly. I should seek professional help if at all possible, because training from a young age may prevent any bad behaviour from starting.
A good book to get is Victoria Stilwells 'It's me or the dog.' Very easy to read and put into practice..
