"Teacup" Maltease or "Teacup" Yorkie Please?

I'm looking for a "Teacup" Maltease or "Teacup" Yorkie. But I cant spend more than $300 (including shipping) I'm on a major budget and need it for a child's birthday. She'll be 13 and has wanted one since she was about 7 and I just cant afford one to give her, unless I find one that's $300 or less. Please Help Me...Thanks
Answers:
First: Why would you actually WANT to buy a runt with probable health problems? That's what so-called "teacups" are. You won't find any reputable breeder who will sell you anything called a teacup, and anyone who does advertise "teacups" is a rip-off backyard breeder.
Second: dogs are expensive to keep. The price you pay for a puppy is just the start. You will be constantly putting your hand in your pocket for vet's fees, shots, regular flea/worm treatments, equipment, food ... and of course desexing. If you don't have much cash spare, don't buy a dog! Let your child volunteer to help at your local shelter - most are delighted to have people to help with feeding, walking and cleaning out. That will also make it clear whether your daughter really is suited to looking after her own pet. Good luck!
puppyfind.com
they have some dogs under that price. %26%26 you can also sort the puppies from lowest price to highest, so its easier to look . and there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie . they are a toy breed and they call the runt of the litter a "teacup" . that just means that it raises the health risk .
hope i helped =]

You can get a maltese or a yorkie on petfinder.com for less then $300 and pick it up at your local shelter.
1. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A TEACUP DOG! backyard breeders breed runts with runts to make tiny unhealthy dogs. These dogs are awful examples of the breed, often have genetic problems and problems from being SO small (vet has difficult time with surgeries etc, breaks bones extremely easily). Those dogs are under 8lb when bred to be healthy, normal-sized dogs. That's plenty tiny.
2. No breeder will sell you one for that including shipping unless there is something seriously wrong with the dog- I WOULD RUN from a breeder who would.
I looked online for one of these years ago and settled for a regular sized maltese yorkie mix and he is adorable so I'm not disspointed. Maybe the birthday child could compromise and gain some humility in this by not getting exactly what they want. The teacups I looked at were nearly 1000 dollars and were not the smallest. The smaller, the more expensive and frankly, they are not worth it. They have a lot of health problems and generally don't live very long. Your child will be happier with a regular sized small dog. And good luck finding one at 300. Mine was 550 but well worth it. I highly recommend yorkie/maltese mix!
OMG you people are ridiculously judgemental and rude. Just because she can't afford an EXPENSIVE DOG-that doesn't mean she can't afford to take good care of it. Do you know how many homeless dogs there our out there. PEOPLE SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS. "POOR LITTLE LEMONDROP LADY>>>JUST ANSWER THE QUES AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT ME." The truth is you people are so rude. She probably wasn't aware that "TEACUP" is a runt and has health problems and you people are practically YELLING at her as if she is supposed to know better.
PEOPLE PAY ATTENTION: Lauren S is 18 years old. The puppy is for A 13 year old, not HER 13 year old. Lauren---Do her parents know about this??
There is no such thing as a teacup dog of any kind. The term teacup was invented by greedy breeders trying to find ways to over charge people for regular dogs and unhealthy runts that are not quality enough to charge full price for. Dogs that are bred smaller than the breed standard have severe health problems that will cost you hundreds, and they rarely live long.
Dogs that are smaller than they should be should never be bred anyway. It is a huge risk and many of the females die trying to give birth. It is best not to support this practice and avoid anyone trying to sell you a teacup anything.
If you go with a breeder, make sure you get papers showing the ancestory at least 3 generations back. Make sure both parents were champions and perfect examples of the breed. Also make sure both parents were tested and found free of common genitic defects that could be passed on to the puppies. If you do not ask these questions, you will not be getting a quality dog.
If you are just looking for a pet, it is far better to adopt from a shelter and save a life. You will feel really good knowing you did something to help animals and your community.
Try http://www.petfinder.com
A shelter dog will usually cost far less than $300 and already be neutered, up to date on shots, and vet checked. If you bought from a breeder, not only would you have to pay the dog's purchase price, but you would have to dish out several hundred more in vet expenses.
It would teach your child a very good lesson about being responsible for animals by adopting a shelter dog.
Here are some links about finding a good breeder if you choose to do so.

good luck
Oh dear, poor little lemondrop, the truth can hurt, can't it? But I notice you don't put forward any actual answer to the question - so where do you recommend buying a so-called "teacup", could you guarantee it won't have any health problems from being too small and badly bred, and what do you have to say about the completely unrealistic budget the questioner proposes?
The "cruel" people are RIGHT. Sorry!
The people above have answered correctly. Teacups are actually runts. Runts used to be thought of as the weakest of the litter and now unscrupulous people are marketing them as teacup this or teacup that. Many come with health problems, which may mean expensive trips to the vet.
Your annual cost for any dog will exceed 300.00 a year (based on food, shots, things that come up) so if you are stretching to get your daughter a dog for a pet, this is something to consider. If you are going beyond your means to purchase any dog, please reconsider. Any animal is a living breathing thing that deserves the best care possible. If finances are an issue, it is best to explain to your daughter that while you would love to get her a dog, the budget doesnt' allow for one at this time. Maybe when she is older and has a job this would be something to consider as it will teach her to save her money and be partially financially responsible for the dog. keep in mind, your daughter is 13. Dating and boys, trips, vacations are going to come up. College will come up. Most freshman can't take dogs with them to school - so in 5 years the dog is going to be yours - financially and otherwise to deal with. If this isn't something that you are keen on - explain this to your daughter! Explanation of the issue will serve her better in the long run. Use the 300.00 for something else - something that only has a one time 300.00 cost - that way you are not financially stressed!
Okay so I guess you'd consider my dog teacup if the term was real but everyones saying its not. I have a yorkie, 2 actually and they weigh 4 pounds-ish and they are full grown. They are adorable but I'm not sure you will find male nor female for 300. Despite what everyone else is saying they have no health problems and are completely fine, just tiny. Maltese are cute too but I'm not sure how the prices run, maybe cheaper.
Ok here is some info from an experienced owner. I own a Maltese ( they are awesome!) Don't buy into the scam, there is NO SUCH THING AS A TEACUP! What it is is the runt of one litter breed with another runt to get a very small animal, the major downside is a defficient immune system! They are greedy people who try and scam you out of ur money for a dog who not really up to par health wise. so dont go for a teacup
trust me both those breeds are small enough on their own! Like I said I own a female who is turning 12 months old and I got her when she was 6mn. She is only 4.5-5 pounds! (but feels lighter) Just look for a loving breeder who sells just normal Maltese, or Yorkie.
Some more bad news, they are very pricey breeds! I was lucky and dog mine for $500( WHAT A STEAL!) If u get a male they are less. Go to petfinder or search maltese/yorkie puppies into google. You might just be able to find something!
I personally say go with the Maltese they are more friendly in my opinion, and very smart too. She will not be disapointed! =) but be aware they are fragile so no ruff little kids around or big dogs. I would highly reccomend keeping the hair short( i had to do to matts which are inevitable!) They look cute no matter what.
sry for the long reponse but there is alot to know!
GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES! I really hope it works out.
Just buy a healthy maltese or yorkie. Forget about the whole teacup idea. Back yard breeders and puppy millers use this term to describe a runt or abnormally small dog. Its not healthy and most crappy breeders will just keep breeding runts over and over again producing very unhealthy dogs. Its going to be hard to get a dog for less than $300 from a decent reputable breeder. Try going to a shelter and looking there, they have tons of dogs that need homes. Plus, they usually come with shots. Check them out first.
Please, please, please go to http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/... . They will help you out and set your mind straight bout what your doing.
You shouldn't buy a small dog for a young girl as a gift. What if she wants it for a while then doesn't want to play with it anymore. Are you going to take it to the pound? And how could a 7 yr old kow she wants a small dog at 7. she is young and doesn't know what she wants but what she sees. And vet and grooming fees won't even be under $300. please educate yourself before putting a pup life in your little girl's hands.
