**DP** Innova Canned food?

What's wrong with the Innova canned puppy chow? I saw in one of the questions you answered you said it wasn't a good food? I feed my westie this and am freaking out now! lol

I don't like Innova website cause they don't list their ingredients properly on their website.. They are vague and leave out details.
It says ' Included in our foods are some of the following: ' What does that mean.. It does include it, or it doesn't.. They should list the ingredients as they are on the product.
But if you do look, you can see that the Innova canned puppy contains dl-Methionine. This causes gastrointestinal upsets. It's an acidifier, it's been known to cause kidney damage. It does seem to cause more problems in cats than dogs but.
And ' Natural Flavours ' could be anything that is not
synthetic or artificial... So natural flavour might be anything that they feel tastes like beef say.. It doesn't mean that it's beef flavour, it means that it's not synethethic and it's not artificial, but they don't say that's beef..
If I had a better ingredient listing I could see exactly what's in there..
I wouldn't be all worried about it tho.. There is something in every food out there really, even if it's not listed, there is always something that is used or done before the food is processed so it doesn't need to be listed on the label.. For example say they buy their meat from a company that soaks it in sugar ( this is just an example :) They wouldn't need to list the sugar because it is done prior to them getting and using the meat..
So no matter what.. and this includes people food too, there is nothing that we are eating that is entirely 100% safe.

I've had good luck with the Innova Evo foods, I will be anxious to find out what the problems are! Oh boy! That is stressful!

i don't know, but i'm sure your dog will be fine compared to mine because apparently i feed my dogs the worst possible kind-ol' roy (someone else said you should feed your dogs ANYTHING but ol' roy)

Innova is not great. It contains things that are bad for dogs. Innova is not too bad, it is just not as healthy as these here. Just switch foods. Try one of these.
Canidae- One of the Bests
Royal Canin- Healthy
Wellness- Yummy
Solid Gold- Very Good (Healthy)
Life's Abundance- Very Yummy also
Those are the ones I like. It works very well.

There's nothing wrong with Innova canned foods...
BTW they are the only manufacturer to pledge that they will build or buy a plant to make canned food rather than continue to outsource it.
They make the dry food in their own plants.
I have posted links to a page on their website listing the ingredients in their canned puppy food and an info sheet on food safety...If someone could point out what food ingredients they question that might be helpful.
I wouldn't worry about your Westie. Innova stepped up to the plate when the contamination issue was raised and was pro-active to protect pets when other companies were doing cost-benefit analysis before doing anything.
